PCM air cleaning technology is based on the two methods of decomposition of hazardous gaseous substances to the elementary compounds (CO2, H2O): plasma-chemical and catalytic.
Plasma-chemical method. Plasma is known to be a gas with ionized molecules. Plasma contains a number of components: electrons of different energy, positive and negative ions, and neutral particles. Hazardous substances undergo conversion in the following stages: the contaminated air enters the gas-discharge reactor, where the hazardous substances are destroyed under the influence of low-temperature plasma and other physical and chemical agents. Excitement of molecules, atoms and radicals takes place as a result of these effects, bringing qualitative changes to operation of the catalytic register of the air cleaner.
Catalytic method. Catalytic method refers to the deep oxidation of the conversion products, resulted from the air on exit of the air cleaner plasma-chemical reactor. This method makes use of a low-temperature catalyst, which thanks to the plasma-chemical stage starts effective operation within the range of 20-500 С. Plasma-catalytic air cleaning technology is unique due to the fact that it enables deep purifying of the whole range of toxic compositions to CO2 и H2O, starting from the low temperatures. Besides, its uniqueness consists in suppression of pathogenic micro flora taking place simultaneous with gas purification.
Plasma-catalytic air cleaning principle of the "PLAZKAT" air cleaner solves the problem of cleaning air (gases) with minimum amount of catalyst (with no precious metals), at lowest temperatures (from 20° С) and minimized energy consumption.
The flow rate of the treated air may vary within 5 - 100 000 m3/h and beyond.
Operation of the "PLAZKAT" air cleaner in line with dust-trapping units enables full treatment cycle of atmospheric emissions, implementation in a closed air circulation system in the room, which is especially vital for the countries, where the cold season lasts more than half of the year. One of the major application areas of the "PLAZKAT" plasma-catalytic air cleaners are those industries, where small- and medium-sized equipment is operated: small heaters, liquid-ball and smelting furnaces, dying chambers, smokers, ovens for thermal treatment of foodstuff, there Plazkat takes an unrivalled advantage over the air cleaners based on the traditional gas cleaning technology. This advantage is linked to the low capital and operational costs of Plazkat air cleaner, as well as to achievement of the required air purification degree.
No less attractive area of "PLAZKAT" application is a possibility to install it in the existing plenum ventilation systems. It is particularly true for the large industrial cities and centers. The traditional means of air cleaning are limited as a rule to the use of oil and fiber filters, which are effective (at least 99%) in cleaning air from dust and sprays. At the same time, they still have to solve the problem of cleaning air from hazardous gases.
Air cleaning technology applied in "PLAZKAT" air cleaner enables air deodorization in offices and utility rooms. The known methods of air conditioning are aimed at cleaning air from dust; ionizers are not effective in combating hazardous gases and revival of the air condition. "PLAZKAT" unit performs the full cycle of air purification and deodorization in the room, including an optional disinfection and deactivation effect (driers, cloakrooms, shower cabins, apartments and etc).
